(Anvil) to pursue this Best Value procurement for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Jet Fuel Storage Facility Project under Construction Manager Burns & McDonnell. Mission Critical managed the proposal effort for this two-stage CMGC procurement, demonstrating Myers’ previous Colorado CMGC experience to help break into the Fort Collins market. The project aims to improve the busy intersection of Horsetooth and College, a critical intersection for the seasonal traffic influxes of the growing city that is home to Colorado State University.

Design-Build Success for Phase 1 at EFD

Mission Critical worked with the Joint Venture of Texas Sterling Construction and Banicki Construction (Texas Sterling-Banicki) and Lead Designer Kimley-Horn to win the Houston Airport System’s $24M Spaceport Development Design-Build contract. Throughout this three-stage procurement, we highlighted Texas-Sterling Banicki’s shared experience and working relationship as strengthened by their shared parent company, Sterling Construction Company. The scope of this aviation project includes the construction of 53,000 square feet of laboratory and office space on a 153-acre site, as well as roadways, parking, water, wastewater, electrical power and distribution, and communications facilities.

New Client and a Strong First Win

The Mission Critical team partnered with Felix Construction, to win this $6.5M Alta Vista Pump Station Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the City of Keller, Texas. This competitive, three-phase alternative delivery procurement included a Statement of Qualifications, Statement of Proposal, and extensive preparation for the team interview. Significantly, this project represents Felix’s first alternative delivery pursuit and win in Texas. The project will improve the water / wastewater infrastructure of the City of Keller by expanding the pump station to better meet the City’s water consumption and distribution needs.

Competitive CDOT CMGC Shortlist

Mission Critical was brought on by the Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company pursuit team to assist in pursuing the $18.85M I-70 Edwards Spur Road Phase II CMGC project for the Colorado Department of Transportation. The Mission Critical team worked with Ralph L. Wadsworth (RLW) to pursue this two-stage, alternative-delivery, civil infrastructure project and ultimately placed the team on the shortlist amid a competitive field of submitters. The pursuit management scope included the development of a Statement of Qualifications and an intensive interview training process with challenge scenarios. The awarded Phase II project will include road and bridge widening to add a travel lane in each direction, 1-2 pedestrian bridges, installation of a roundabout at a significant intersection, and pedestrian mobility improvements to increase safety.

Anonymous Submittal = Design-Build Win

The Design-Build team of Sully-Miller Contracting and KPFF Engineering, Inc. was awarded the $3.5M Bison Avenue Surface Lot Design-Build project from the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) after a challenging and highly competitive pursuit. This alternative delivery project was procured with a Request for Proposals to anonymously select a best-value contractor. Submitting firms had to remain anonymous and omit any identifying information or experience from their submission. This Design-Build project will provide 1,000 stalls and 20 electric vehicle charging stations for UC Irvine faculty, staff, and students.

New Joint Venture Client and a First CMGC Win

The Joint Venture of Myers & Sons Construction and Teichert Construction (Myers-Teichert) won the $15M Sacramento Joint Power Authority (JPA) Capital SouthEast Connector D3 Segment CMGC project. The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for this project was a brief document set out by the procuring entity Sacramento Joint Powers Authority (JPA), an entity established specifically for this project to represent the several municipalities impacted by the project site. In addition to the openness of the RFQ and the brevity of the submittal, the plans for the project were minimal – roughly 5% complete and accounting only for alignment – leaving the rest for the proposer to determine.
