As a nearly two-year-long global pandemic rages on and our government officials continue to duke it out over a historic infrastructure package, US contractors and public agencies alike prepare for the economic recovery on the horizon. To facilitate and aid Design-Build teams in preparing for the ominous year ahead, the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is hosting their 28th annual Design-Build Conference & Expo in Denver, CO, between November 1st and 3rd. This critical construction industry event brings the nation’s most innovative and collaborative design-build Owners and industry leaders together for three days of intense learning and networking, both in-person and virtually.
Rebuilding, reconnecting, and reinventing are key themes of this year’s Design-Build Conference & Expo. DBIA aims to provide design-build teams with the best resources and tools to help them strengthen our infrastructure and economy. Minority, Women and Disadvantaged (MWDBE) firms are also a key focus for this year’s event. DBIA launched a robust outreach campaign targeting MWDBE firms, offering substantial discounts to help connect them with the nation’s design-build teams.
DBIA’s Executive Director and CEO Lisa Washington announced that in addition to the General Sessions aimed at motivating, inspiring and educating, this year’s event will also include five Educational Tracks:
Track 1 – As a matter of fact… | This track highlights facts about design-build based on research and practical application.
Track 2 – Beyond Cost & Schedule: DB and Triple Bottom Line Success | Here, attendees will delve into how the inherent teamwork and innovation in design-build can foster environmental stewardship and social responsibility, maximizing long-term value to the project, the team, and the community at large.
Track 3 – Lessons Learned: Ordinary Teams with Extraordinary Outcomes | This track provides examples of what the practical application of Design-Build Done Right® principles looks like and the results it can produce.
Track 4 – Post-Pandemic Leadership: Navigating the New Normal | Sessions in this track will home in on lessons learned that will result in long-term, positive changes to the way we do business, allowing us to make lemonade out of the COVID-19 lemons.
Track 5 – BIM/VDC: The Next Frontier | This track will take a closer look at how technology is rapidly changing the way we conduct business; integrate, collaborate, and manage our work; and the long-term implications of technology’s influence to project delivery.
